また、手動でのアップデートに限り4月5日から可能になるそうです。

Today we are moving Windows Insiders in the Release Preview ring to the Windows 10 Creators Update (Build 15063) for PC. This is an important step as we prepare to roll out the Windows 10 Creators Update to customers around the world starting on April 11th. Windows Insiders in the Release Preview ring will be helping test the update path from the Windows 10 Anniversary Update (Build 14393) that customers will be taking. The Creators Update is designed to spark and unleash creativity, bringing 3D and mixed reality to everyone and enabling every gamer to be a broadcaster. Beyond creativity, it brings new features to Microsoft Edge, additional security capabilities and privacy tools, and so much more. Windows 10 Creators UpdateがBuild 15063であるとの記述があります。事前の通告どおり一般リリースは2017年4月11日とのことです。

Windows 10 Creators UpdateはBuild 15063.0ですが、Insider Previewでは既に3回ほど更新されて、現状はBuild 15063.14となっています。アップデート後すぐに更新が適用されることになります。

Windows 10アップグレードアシスタントでは4月5日から

Windows 10をアップデートする方法は3種類あります。

• Windows Updateを待つ方法
• Microsoftのサイトから直接アップデートする方法
• USBメモリーなどを使ってアップデートする方法

2番目の方法についてMicrosoftのブログにこのような記述があります。

For the those of you who are eager to get the Creators Update right away, you will be able to initiate the update manually, starting on April 5th, via Update Assistant. This option is intended for advanced users on devices running a licensed version of Windows 10.

Microsoftのサイトの「今すぐアップデート」をクリックするとアップグレードアシスタントというプログラムがインストールされてアップデートが始まります。

• Windows 10のダウンロード(Microsoft)

この方法なら4月5日(日本では4月6日)からWindows 10がインストールされているパソコンをアップデートできるとのことです。

早期に「正式版」を使ってみたいならこの方法が一番早く入手できることになります。

ただし、アップグレードアシスタントによるアップデートは多くの項目が初期化されますので注意が必要です。

新しいPCが初期のターゲット

先の記事にはこのような記述もあります。

The first phase will target newer devices, especially those we tested together with our OEM hardware partners. We will then expand the Creators Update release to additional devices based on the feedback we receive during the initial phase. We’ll iterate this process over a period of several months until all compatible devices running Windows 10 worldwide are offered the Creators Update.

Windows 10のアップデートは新しいデバイスを優先的に行います。ここにはOEMパートナーと共にテストするとありますが、実際は一般ユーザーのPCもアップデートして不具合情報を吸い上げます。

Windows 7/8.1からのアップグレードに失敗してWindows 10パソコンに買い直してやっとMicrosoftの押し売りから解放された人が真っ先に次のターゲットになるという皮肉な状況です。

一方、Windows 7/8.1からのアップグレードに成功したPCは互換性の確認に時間がかかるため数ヶ月はWindows Updateでの配信はありません。

これらのPCは待っているより自分の都合の良い時に手動でアップデートした方がよいでしょう。

まとめ

Windows 10 Creators UpdateはBuild 15063に決まりました。

Build 15063と付くものであればInsider PreviewのISOでも大きな違いはありませんが、正式版を待った方がよいでしょう。
